A rabid and deadly chimpanzee is on the loose in cinemas in Primate, but what songs are in the movie? Find out below.
The film comes from British director Johannes Roberts, who is best known for previous horror hits 47 Meters Down and The Strangers: Prey At Night, and it was released into cinemas on January 30.
It is set at a luxurious home on a remote part of Hawaii, owned by a writer played by Troy Kotsur, who won an Oscar for his role in Coda. His daughter Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah) returns home from college with a group of her friends, and when they are left alone for a couple of days, their pet chimpanzee Ben becomes infected with rabies after biting a mongoose. As Ben becomes increasingly dangerous, the college students find themselves fighting for their lives.

The film premiered at Fantastic Fest last September and has been largely well received by critics, earning a 78 per cent rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Their critics consensus reads: “That’s one bad ape, and Primate is one lean, mean, effective chiller.”
In the UK, it has been issued with an 18 certificate by the BBFC, due to “strong bloody violence and injury detail”.
Every song on the Primate soundtrack
The film includes an original score from Adrian Johnston, the British composer known for his work on Becoming Jane, Capturing Mary, Shackleton and Paradox.
On top of that, there is one major needle drop in the form of ‘360’ from Charli XCX’s ‘Brat’, which plays over an early montage of the group of students as they drink and party around a swimming pool at the luxury Hawaiian villa.
Also included are Deb Never’s ‘Know Me Better’, Ahli’s ‘Can’t Help Myself’ and Voodoos’ ‘Tired Minds’. There is also a darkly comic moment in which the titular ape is enraged when he hears the theme song to Dora The Explorer.
