Sydney Sweeney could potentially face legal sanctions after throwing a string of bras on the Hollywood sign as part of a stunt for an underwear company.

The Euphoria actor posted a video on Monday (January 26) that showed her entering a van in the dead of night, filled with underwear. She is then shown tying bras together and throwing them over the letters of the historic Hollywood sign. She tagged Syrn by Sydney Sweeney in the post, a newly launched underwear brand.
According to The LA Times, the stunt happened without the permission or knowledge of either the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who own the rights to the landmark, or The Hollywood Sign Trust, who are responsible for managing the sign.
“Anyone intending to use and/or access the Hollywood Sign for commercial purposes must obtain a license or permission from the Hollywood Chamber to do so,” Steve Nissen, chief of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told the paper in a statement.
“The production involving Sydney Sweeney and the Hollywood Sign, as reported by TMZ, was not authorised by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce nor did we have prior knowledge of it.”
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) told the LA Times that a police report for the incident had not yet been filed.
The publicity stunt comes just a few months after Sweeney caused controversy for her involvement in a commercial for American Eagle jeans, which received criticism for what was viewed as racial undertones in the campaign’s message. In December, the actor spoke out on the issue after refusing to comment on it for months, saying she “doesn’t support the views” associated with the controversy.
Prior to that campaign, the star also made headlines for selling soap infused with her own bath water.
