The iconic indie band appeared on triple j’s ‘Like A Version’ where they took on the track.

Frontman Alex Kapranos explained that their cover doesn’t feature a saxophone as the original song does, with the band instead opting for a “really rough, raw” sound on the synthesiser to give the song a “sleazy vibe”.

“It’s a really really good song,” he said, with bassist Bob Hardy adding, “it’s a banger”, in an interview following their performance.

“It puts me in a great mood whenever I listen to it,” Kapranos continued. “It’s great when you see a band and everything they put out just seems to be even better than what they did before.”

“it’s one of those riffs that should have always existed, like it’s always been there. It’s very cool. Amy’s lyric is so good, it’s so bare and open and dark at the same time.”

Speaking about putting their own spin on it, Kapranos added: “I knew that I was never gonna be able to sing like Amy [Taylor] – we’re different personalities, we have different voices, different accents, different ways of doing it. For me, it was more about tuning into the energy.”

In other news, Amyl & The Sniffers’ recently picked up bar tabs of $35,000 for fans in Melbourne, after their free show was cancelled at the last minute.

Last year, Amyl & The Sniffers spoke to NME about their growing fanbase and how they found the inspiration for ‘Cartoon Darkness’.

“We’ve evolved in so many different ways,” said drummer Bryce Wilson. “Further than pub rock or punk rock kinda thing. Not better or worse or anything, just different branches of a tree.”

Speaking about how their latest album saw them tackle wider societal issues, including prejudice and sexism, Taylor added: “I was intimidated by politics. I didn’t grow up around it that much. I finished high school, but barely. It’s really easy to feel kind of ashamed of yourself for not being sure how to get your foot in it, or to get the confidence to speak out about stuff.

“I don’t just wanna be singing about crap. The world’s filled with junk – layers and layers and layers of junk. Pointless crap. I don’t wanna be contributing to that.”

As for Franz Ferdinand, the iconic indie band drew a huge crowd at Glastonbury’s The Other Stage last year, despite competing with a secret set from Lewis Capaldi over on the main Pyramid Stage.

For their set, they broke out classics like ‘Take Me Out’, and also invited out Peter Capaldi and rising indie rapper Master Peace as special guests.

They spoke to NME at the festival, with Kapranos sharing details of his first-ever Glastonbury experience back when he was 18.

Their latest album, 2025’s ‘The Human Fear’ was given a glowing four-star review from NME with Andrew Trendell writing: “It’s a love letter to the idea of this band. Still shamelessly livin’ it up, with an eyebrow cocked and high kicks galore, ‘The Human Fear’ is – as promised – Franz-y as fuck. You do you, hun; you do it so well.”
