The British star won Best Actor In A TV Mini-Series at the ceremony on January 11, for his performance in the Netflix hit Adolescence. It’s the first win for the celebrated actor, who also won an Emmy for his work on the show.
However, he told Capital Breakfast (via The Independent) that he was separated from the award just hours after winning it. “I had to go straight from LA the day after [the Golden Globes] to Madrid as I had to be on set the next day” he explained. “I had 35 minutes to catch the plane.”.
“As I came off the plane, a woman took me down the stairs, threw me in a car, and drove me across the runway. But all I’m thinking is, ‘my case isn’t going to make it’.” He continued: “I said, ‘excuse me, there’s no way you’re getting my suitcase on this plane if I’m in a car now’, and (the staff member) was like ‘oh no, don’t worry, we’ll take care of it’. The case didn’t make the plane and it was left in Atlanta.”
When asked what was in the suitcase, Graham quipped “My socks, my pants, my toothbrush… and a Golden Globe.” He explained, “I never left it, I put it in my case – it’s heavy, I wasn’t carrying that in my hand luggage.”
He ended the anecdote by saying he was reunited with his award two days later.
Graham is currently promoting season two of the drama A Thousand Blows, currently airing on Disney+. NME gave the show a four-star review, writing: “There’s a touch of genius to the way Knight shoved disparate, real-life figures from Victorian London into the ring, rang the bell and watched the sparks fly.
