The star has led the Paramount+ drama, which focuses on his titular oil crisis executive Tommy Norris, since its debut last year.

The show wrapped up its second season over the weekend, though in last week’s penultimate episode, Norris was fired from his job by company boss Cami Miller (Demi Moore).

Some reports subsequently emerged that Thornton could be departing – though he has dismissed them as fake.

“There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show,” he told USA Today. “They have nothing to do with reality.”

He confirmed he will “be there” when the next season shoots this year, adding: “I love doing the show. I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there.”

During a separate interview for Esquire, Thornton reiterated that he is “signed up for like five years or something,” adding: “So as long as they want me, I’ll be there”.

In the finale, viewers see Norris plan to start his own oil company, with the actor teasing of what’s to come in season 3: “The end is the beginning of the season. What’s interesting about it is that Tommy’s not the kind of guy who ever trusts happiness.

“But just for this one moment—now that it’s going to be the family’s company, and at the end when he tells the coyote ‘You can’t have today’—Tommy lets himself be happy for a change. But I still think he’s wearily happy, if you know what I mean?”

Landman was renewed for a third season midway through the second run in December, and comes after a hugely successful run on Paramount+, with the season 2 premiere attracting 9.2million streaming views in its first two days. This made it the most-watched premiere for a Paramount+ original series.

The series comes from Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan, and also stars Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia and Sam Elliott.
