The second season of Paramount+’s Landman is coming to an end, but will it be back for a third? Read on to find out everything we know.

The show comes from the mind of Taylor Sheridan, the writer of Yellowstone, Sicario and Hell Or High Water, alongside Christian Wallace. It is set within the world of the oil rigs of West Texas, where “roughnecks and wildcat billionaires are fuelling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics”.
It stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis executive at an oil company, while Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland and Michelle Randolph play members of Norris’ family. Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia and Sam Elliott all co-star.
Season two debuted on Paramount+ back on November 16 and its 10th and final episode arrives on Sunday (January 18).
The show is based on the podcast series Boomtown, which was hosted by Wallace and produced by Texas Monthly magazine in partnership with Imperative Entertainment in 2019.
NME recently spoke to Thornton about his role in the show. “I love playing the character,” he said. “I think it’s the first time I’ve ever worked on anything where there’s not a bad apple in the bunch. Of course, Taylor wrote Tommy for me so that makes it a lot easier. It fits like a glove in a lot of ways.”

Variety confirmed the news in December, roughly halfway through the second season’s run on Paramount+.
It is no surprise, as the show has been a huge hit for the streaming service. The opening episode of season two scored more than 9.2million streaming views in its first two days on the service, making it the most-watched premiere for any Paramount+ original series ever.
There has been no confirmation about the potential release date for season three, although the previous seasons debuted in November 2024 and November 2025 respectively, so it is possible that it might return before the end of the year.
