Gracie Abrams is set to make her acting debut, having been confirmed to star in the upcoming film from Babygirl director Halina Reijn.

Variety reports that the film will be titled Please, with plot details currently under wraps. Independent studio A24 will be distributing the film, as they have done with Babygirl and Bodies Bodies Bodies, Reijn’s two previous films. This will be Abrams’ first acting role, although she has family connections to the film industry as the daughter of JJ Abrams, the director of the most recent Star Wars film and the Star Trek trilogy.
Released last January in the UK, Babygirl starred Nicole Kidman as a high-powered CEO who enters into a dangerous affair with an intern, played by Harris Dickinson. The film became one of A24’s biggest successes, making $64million (£47.6million) at the box office.
Gracie Abrams has established herself as a successful singer-songwriter, debuting in 2020 with her EP ‘Minor’ in 2020 and most recently releasing the album ‘The Secret Of Us’ in 2024, She is a two-time Grammy nominee, being honoured for Best New Artist and Best Best Pop Duo/Group performance for the song ‘Us’ with Taylor Swift.
Last October, it was announced she would feature on the new Mumford & Sons album ‘Prizefighter’, alongside Hozier and Chris Stapleton. Abrams features on the track ‘Badlands’. The band covered ‘I Love You, I’m Sorry’, one of her songs from ‘The Secret Of Us’, on a Live Lounge appearance that same month.
Last month, the artist criticised Donald Trump’s “poisonous and vile narcissism” after his comments following mass shootings in Australia and the death of film maker Rob Reiner. “It is getting harder to find the words to describe the pain in the world,” she wrote on her Instagram stories. “I am lighting a candle for everybody who is hurting.”
