The global boy group MODYSSEY has officially been formed following the finale of Mnet Plus’s survival show “Planet C: Home Race,” with seven members securing their debut spots through an intense competition that captivated audiences worldwide.
The final lineup, announced on December 27th during a live broadcast on Mnet Plus and Mnet, includes Sun Heng Yu, Fan Zhe Yi, Li Zihao, Zhao Guang Xu, Xue Su Ren, Yi Chen, and Ngan Chau Yuet. The announcement came after a dramatic finale that saw global fans, known as Planet Makers, cast nearly 48 million votes to determine the group’s composition.
The final episode generated massive engagement across multiple platforms. Live streaming viewership on Mnet Plus surged to approximately six times higher than the previous week, while the show dominated X (formerly Twitter) real-time trends and appeared on multiple entertainment charts on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
During the finale, twelve finalists performed the new song “REVENANT” in two teams, each showcasing distinct concepts. The contestants then united for a performance of “Voyage,” expressing gratitude to fans and anticipation for their upcoming journey.
The group’s name combines “M,” representing Music, Move, and Momentum, with “Odyssey,” symbolizing a journey of growth. According to the show’s creators, the name reflects how music-driven movement becomes the catalyst for the team’s collective development.
Planet C: Home Race distinguished itself through unprecedented fan involvement, allowing Planet Makers to participate in selecting mission songs, choreography, killing parts, and ultimately the debut lineup and group name. The show documented the contestants’ return to the starting line as they competed toward their shared goal of debut, facing rivalry, setbacks, and moments of triumph.
With their selection complete, MODYSSEY now prepares to launch their career on the global stage, backed by millions of supporters who followed their journey from last summer’s “Boys II Planet” through the recently concluded “Home Race.”
