Kit Harington has no plans to get involved with Game Of Thrones in the future, the actor has said in a new interview.

Harington was speaking to Variety about his involvement in Audible’s Harry Potter audiobook series, which debuted last month. He voices Gilderoy Lockhart in The Chamber Of Secrets, the series’ second book, which came out on Audible on Tuesday (December 16).
When the possibility of a new Game Of Thrones audiobook was floated, he said in no uncertain terms that he wouldn’t want to voice his character, Jon Snow. “No, god no. I don’t wanna go anywhere near it,” he answered. “I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I’m alright.”
Game Of Thrones, which premiered on HBO in 2011, was Harington’s first major TV role, and he played Snow through the series’ eight-year run. Last year, he told GQ that “we were all so fucking tired” at the end of the show, explaining that he looked “spent” in the final season.
He also told The Times that the show worsened his ADHD symptoms and his drinking, which he said he previously helped manage his ADHD with. “People would treat me like the character, who was a hero and good,” he said. “But in my life, personally I didn’t feel like that at all. And that, I think, [led to] some kind of psychological scarring.
“I was drinking a lot. I was going through addiction and everything that entails and hiding things and all sorts. And that was the polar opposite of the character I was playing, who couldn’t tell a lie.”
Elsewhere in his Variety interview, meanwhile, he said that he plans to read the Harry Potter books to his children – he shares a son and daughter, born in 2021 and 2023 respectively, with his Game Of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie.
“I can’t wait to read the books to my kids,” he said. “They’re gonna have to try and stop me. They’re gorgeous books for a parent to introduce reading and literature.”
He said of the book series, “I grew up with them. Then they kind of left my life for a bit as I got older. Then I rediscovered them through the audiobooks with Stephen Fry. I’ve gone to bed every evening for the past six or seven years listening to them just on notation, and it’s a kind of sleep aid for me. I know them like the back of my hand. I’m a complete nerd for the books.”
Of his involvement with the audiobooks themselves, he described it as “very simple”: “They asked whether I wanted to play Lockhart. It was a really simple yes, because I love the character.”
He added, “As far as cameos in a series go, you don’t get much more entertaining and fun to do as an actor than Gilderoy Lockhart. It was a no-brainer.”
Harington, who said he’d “love” to be in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series if offered the chance, has a main role in the upcoming gothic horror movie The Dreadful, which was reported to be in post-production earlier this year, alongside his former Game Of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner.
He also plays Sydney Carton in the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Tale Of Two Cities, set to air next year as a miniseries. He’s also an executive producer on the project.
Season four of Industry returns in January too, with Harington reprising his role as Sir Henry Muck in the financial thriller. He joined in the third season, which was praised by fans as having some of the “best ever” episodes of television. The finale was also hailed as “one of the greatest season finales I’ve ever watched”, “momentous”, and “insanely good” by fans.
