As well as dishing out trophies to celebrate the best of 2025’s video games, The Game Awards typically features a number of live performances and news about future releases.
Most of The Game Awards big announcements are shrouded in mystery but a few projects have been confirmed.
Last week, Evanescence revealed they will be performing their Devil May Cry anthem ‘Afterlife’ live at the ceremony, which takes place Thursday (December 11). Teasing the gig on social media, the band’s Amy Lee said that fans of the Netflix series can expect an “exciting announcement” about a new season. A second season of Devil May Cry was greenlit shortly after the first hit the streamer, so fans are expecting release details to be firmed up.
Last night, host Geoff Keighley revealed that “the future” of Tomb Raider will be shared at The Game Awards. Amazon Prime Video is currently working on a live-action adaptation starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft while Crystal Dynamics has been developing a single-player narrative-driven adventure since 2022. Not much has been shared about the project but developers have promised that the new game will “include all the elements that have made Tomb Raider one of the most revered franchises in gaming”.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fans have also noticed new outfits in the recently-released hype trailer, with many anticipating news on a DLC will be confirmed at The Game Awards. Developers Sandfall recently announced a free update to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to celebrate 5million sales of the game and have also teased a sequel.
The biggest question mark over The Game Awards is just what a demonic statue in the Californian desert is teasing. The monument was discovered earlier this month after Keighley shared its location on social media. Early rumours about Diablo 4 and God Of War were quickly debunked, with the teams behind Lords Of The Fallen 2 and The Elder Scrolls 6 also denying their involvement in the stunt.
