Jessica Alba has looked back at filming Fantastic Four, saying she dreaded the “humiliating” nude scene in the 2005 film.

While giving a career-spanning talk at the Red Sea Film Festival on Friday (December 5), she was asked about her memories of the shoot, and said her “least favourite scene” was of character Sue Storm reappearing completely naked over a bridge.

“I thought that was awful,” she admitted, per Variety. “It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”

However, Alba said her memories of playing Storm were largely positive, and said he “loved” how the character broke gender stereotypes perpetuated in superhero and action films at the time.

“She was a woman I looked up to,” she explained. “She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind. She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her. Oftentimes, the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy or the villain, the problem in the story.

“This was back then. It’s different now.”

At the event, she was asked if she had watched Vanessa Kirby’s turn as Storm in this years The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which Alba said she hadn’t yet caught.

“I usually watch those movies with my kids, and if ‘Sonic’ was out, my son wants to watch it 85 times in a row. When it comes to movies that are for the family, my kids dominate what we watch for sure. But I have to convince him because we have to see it! I love Marvel, and they’re so fun.”

The film, starring Kirby alongside Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as a group of superpowered scientists marked the first time the characters have been incorporated into the MCU.

Previously, 20th Century Fox had the rights to the characters and produced two films in the ‘00s starring Alba, as well as a 2015 adaptation starring Michael B Jordan.

Following Marvel’s parent company Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox in 2019, the studio is free to incorporate them into their shared universe. Chris Evans’ version of Johnny Storm from the 00’s Fantastic Four films has already made a comedic appearance in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
