Prime Video’s adaptation of Fallout is set within the same universe as the video games that inspired it, but it tells a completely original story.

In a new interview Walton Goggins, who plays Fallout’s tough, gruff bounty hunter The Ghoul, was asked if he’d played the games as research. “No, I haven’t sat down to play the games,” he told PC Gamer. “And I won’t. I won’t. I won’t play the games. I’m not interested.”

The Ghoul is an original character in the Fallout TV series but he was recently added to Fallout 76 as part of the ‘Burning Springs’ update

Meanwhile newcomer Macaulay Culkin has revealed he’s a bit of a Fallout nerd. The Home Alone star joins season two as a “crazy genius” member of The Legion, one of several factions who’ve set up around New Vegas. “I’ve less hands-on experience with the games themselves but I knew what I was walking into,” he told IGN.

“I watched a lot of YouTube stuff. It was one of those things where, honestly, I don’t have time to physically [play games] anymore but I have enough time to put a little earbud in my ear and listen to things. And this was long before the show even came out. It is a very rich world, there are endless hours of things that you can talk about and explore.”

Fallout season two will “pick up in the aftermath of season one’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas”. It’s set to launch December 17, with new episodes released every week.

Showrunner Graham Wagner has confirmed fan-favourite video game character Mr. House will play a big role in the new season and Purnell has described the next batch of episodes as a buddy road trip. “Is The Ghoul going to become good? Is Lucy going to become bad? Or are they going to be somewhere in the middle? They’re trying to influence each other and see who’s going to rub off on whom,” she added.

Earlier this year, Moten said the plan was for the show to run for as many as six seasons. “We’ve always known that we’re going to take our time with the development of the characters,” he said.

In other news, pop-punk giants Neck Deep have launched their own video game to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of their iconic track ‘December’.
