The Switch 2 was officially announced earlier this year with a hardware-focused teaser trailer. Next week (April 2), Nintendo will host a special Direct presentation that fans are hoping will tell them the price and release date for the new console.
However, it seems that one store has accidentally revealed when you will be able to pre-order the Switch 2.
In a now-deleted blog post that was spotted by IGN, Best Buy Canada wrote: “Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 2nd at Best Buy Canada giving you the chance to secure your console early.”

Last year, Nintendo confirmed gamers would be able to play their Switch games on the Switch 2. Bosses have also said the new console would be “affordable” and the company had taken a number of steps to prevent scalping. “We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date (regarding scalpers and the like). We are making preparations,” said Nintendo president Furukawa after fans struggled to get their hands on the original Switch when it launched in 2017.
Yesterday (March 27) Nintendo hosted a surprise Direct that confirmed Switch 2 players will be able to lend their digital games to a friend and announced plans for their own social media platform to share news directly to fans.
However a number of fans were disappointed with the presentation, which featured a number of new titles coming to the Switch but didn’t mention the rumoured remakes of The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker or the highly-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. The Direct did give fans a better look at Metroid Prime 4, which is due for release at some point this year, while more details about battling in Pokemon Legends Z-A were also shared.
Following next week’s presentation, a number of global hands-on preview events for the Switch 2 are set to take place throughout April. As it stands, no games have been confirmed for the new console but a new Mario Kart game was teased during an earlier trailer.
In other news, a Netflix executive has spoken about the streamers plan to turn hit shows such as Stranger Things and Bridgerton into video games.
