Last night, the official Arcane account on Instagram announced the extended version, which is due for release next week (April 4). The song will see Coldplay team up with the track’s original singers Stromae and Pomme less than a month after they released a new video for the viral hit.

‘Ma Meilleure Ennemie’ was written and performed by Stromae and Pomme for the second season of Riot Games‘ and Netflix‘s hit animated series Arcane, which is based on the popular video game League of Legends.

The original version of ‘Ma Meilleure Ennemie’ has racked up well over 300million streams on Spotify alone, with tonnes more on other streaming platforms including Apple Music and YouTube since the release of Arcane season two. The song also marked Stromae’s return to music after taking a break in 2023 for health issues.

The song’s popularity stems from its inclusion during a pivotal scene in season two between characters Ekko and Jinx/Powder. Earlier this month, an official music video featuring footage created specially for the clip was released.

Director Tom Gouill of Animators Fortiche Production told NME about his inspiration for the music video: “Our ambition was to merge Jinx’s dreamlike world with a music video aesthetic, integrating the dance sequence from episode 207 while preserving its beauty and impact.”

“We also incorporated distinctive music video staging, such as Ekko and Powder singing back-to-back and strobe light effects. These choices create a sense of continuity, referencing past moments… Warm, red colours symbolise love and tenderness, while cold tones like blue and green highlight Jinx’s distress and inner turmoil.”

The second and final season of Arcane premiered last year, but a number of other League Of Legends spin-offs are in the works. Speaking about the decision to end the show, co-creator Christian Linke said: “From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”

Earlier this year, it was confirmed a deluxe version of the Arcane season two soundtrack will be released in the coming months. The news came alongside a haunting reworking of ‘What Have They Done To Us’ by Sasha Alex Sloan. Riot has now confirmed the album will be released in April.
