Darkwave darlings French Police once again step forward with the Spanish language French Tips, a dim-lit dance of desire drawn from their latest EP, Espera. The Chicago trio, all taut edges and tight rhythms, spins the track like a cigarette smoldering down to ash.
On French Tips, Brian Flores’s voice leans in: low, laden, a murmur thick with ache, looping over itself, caught in repetition, circling want and hesitation like a moth near flame. Each line lingers longer than the last, heavy with need: to see, to feel, to touch, once more. Echoes of Molchat Doma, KINO, and Lebanon Hanover colour the edges, but French Police drive their own lane: sharp, spare, unsparing.
The lyric video, under director Jovian Carrillo’s eye, pares the performance down to its bones: warehouse walls washed blue, air weighted, light scarce. It’s elusive, shrouded in haze, yet charged with the raw spark of their live intensity. Figures flicker in and out, half-seen, half-felt, a room built for slow unraveling.
