What is the plot of Revelations?

The new Netflix film follows a pastor and detective, the former of which believes it’s his divine calling to bring to justice the culprit behind a missing-person case, while the detective assigned to the case ie being haunted by visions of his dead sister.

“The story centres on the character psychologies of [Pastor] Sung Min-chan and [Detective] Lee Yeon-hui, who resemble one another, but make very different choices,” director and creator Yeon Sang-ho said, per Netflix.

“I wanted to create a story about a lead character with egocentric views, someone who sees and believes only what he wants to. I was thinking of such a character through whom I could create a story within the genre, and Sung Min-chan, a pastor of a new church, was born.”

Who is in the cast of the new Netflix film?

Revelations will star The 8 Show actor Ryu Jun-yeol as pastor Sung Min-chan. It will also feature Hospital Playlist‘s Shin Hyun-been as detective Lee Yeon-hui and Parasyte: The Grey‘s Shin Min-jae, who will play Kwon Yang-rae.

“Ryu Jun-yeol is an actor with exceptional acting skills,” Yeon said. “After working with him for this film, I got the feeling that this skill is based not on intuitive methodology but on a deep understanding of the work.”

“Shin Hyun-been’s Lee Yeon-hui is a tragic figure,” screenwriter Choi Gyu-seok said. “Lee Yeon-hui in the comic was sharp and stoic, but in the film, she is imbued with sadness that could crush her at any moment. Shin Min-jae’s Kwon Yang-rae seems like someone who just emerged from the fires of hell.”

Joining the film as an executive producer is Oscar-winning Alfonso Cuarón, previously known for his work on Gravity and Roma.
