NBA All-Star Weekend is here, meaning there are plenty of activations around the Bay Area for the pro hoopers to enjoy. One of those events involved a VIP showcase for Ubisoft’s highly-anticipated game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

New York Knicks superstar and Call of Duty fan Karl-Anthony Towns, Brooklyn Nets’ Cameron Johnson, the Memphis Grizzlies Jaren Jackson Jr., and Super Bowl 50 champion C.J. Anderson from the Denver Broncos got hands-on with the game ahead of its March 20 release. They also chatted with the game’s developers during the session.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the latest entry in the long-running Assassin’s Creed video game franchise and finally brings players to feudal Japan.

In the game, players can play as two protagonists, the samurai Yasuke or the shinobi Naoe.

HHW Gaming also had the opportunity to get hands-on with the game, and we wrote in our preview:

While there are plenty of new, fresh ideas in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it still feels like an Assassin’s Creed game at its core. The world-building is just as good as Valhalla’s, but the world is not as massive (that’s a good thing). The new parkour movement system feels excellent, and both characters feel better.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ development hasn’t been smooth. The game was delayed multiple times for more polishing, and there has been plenty of ridiculous chatter around the game’s protagonists, with many calling it “woke” and not culturally accurate.

Regardless, we can’t wait to play the full game and share our thoughts on it with you.
