Here is a breakdown of the game, it’s story and everything we know about it so far.
‘Ninja Gaiden 4’ release window
Ninja Gaiden 4 will release in Fall 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will also be available at launch on Xbox Game Pass.
Interestingly, the game is actually being published by Microsoft on all platforms, making this another Microsoft game coming to PlayStation at launch. A few years ago, it may have been exclusive to Xbox and PC.
‘Ninja Gaiden 4’ story
Ninja Gaiden 4‘s story sees the return of Ryu Hayabusa, who is trying to reconcile a destiny he shares with new ninja Yakumo as they free Tokyo from the curse that has brought the city to its knees.
Throughout the game you will be playing as Yakumo, not Ryu. However, he plays an important part in the wider story and Team Ninja has promised to reveal more before launch.
‘Ninja Gaiden 4’ gameplay
The Xbox Developer Direct showed off a lot of gameplay for Ninja Gaiden 4. It showed the new futuristic setting, intense boss battles, gameplay setpieces, and more. The game appears to be sticking closely to the series’ roots with linear, level-based gameplay.
However, the futuristic setting opens up some new exploration and travel opportunities, like swinging across huge gaps in the cityscape of Tokyo and wallrun attacks. The full developer direct segment can be seen below:
