Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 was the biggest selling game in America last year, according to a new report.

According to data gathered by market research company Circana and shared by analyst Mat Piscatella, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 ended 2024 as the best-selling game of December and the entire year, based on both physical and digital sales.
EA Sport College Football 25 was the second biggest-selling game, and Helldivers 2 was the third. The top five was rounded out by Dragon Ball: Sparkling Zero! And NBA 2K25. No Nintendo titles made the top twenty but the company doesn’t report digital sales either. Despite this, Mario Party Jamboree was still one of the best-selling games of December 2024, based on physical sales alone.
Black Ops 6 is the latest in Call Of Duty’s long-running domination of the US charts. 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy broke Call Of Duty’s four-year run at the top and was the first game not developed by either Activision Blizzard or Rockstar to top the best-selling list since 2008. Call Of Duty games have been the best selling titles in America for 13 of the past 16 years, with Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 topping the charts in 2013 and 2018 respectively.
If Rockstar does release the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025, it’s likely to be the best-selling game of this year. According to the latest rumours, news about release dates could be revealed next week. It’s also been reported a number of other game studios are delaying their games to ensure they don’t clash with the sequel.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6’s season two launches next week (January 28) and introduces new multiplayer maps, weapons and a Terminator crossover to the game.
In other news, the last instalment in the ongoing Final Fantasy 7 Remake project won’t be a PlayStation 6 exclusive, as Square Enix continues to tease an Xbox release for the series.
