The legendary actor’s voice can be heard in the ‘Lumon Is Listening’ video that is shown to the employees of Macrodata Refinement during the second season’s first episode, ‘Hello Mrs. Cobel’.

Reeves voices a cartoon version of the Lumon building, which is shown to staff to attempt to prove to them that the company cares about them.

in an interview with Collider, Erickson revealed that though various names were considered for the role, they wanted to go with someone they felt had a comforting voice.

“All I can say is that we talked about a couple of different people for that role. We always wanted it to be somebody that people have certain associations with, but also, it had to be a very warm presence. The Lumon building is very friendly in the context of this video, and there’s a friendliness to that particular voice and a heart to that particular voice.”

Fans of the show have been delighted with the beginning of the show’s second season, whose first episode premiered last Friday (January 17). It was described on social media as “peak television” and having fans “locked in”.

Directed by Ben Stiller, it picks up five months after the first season, set in a company where highly classified work is kept secret be separating the consciousnesses of employees. Lead character Mark (Adam Scott) starts this episode finding himself in a new office with a completely different team to work with.

This positive reception has extended to critics, with NME giving the new season five stars. Reviewer James Mottram called the show “the smartest thing on TV”, encouraging viewers to “enjoy the ride and let this unique show tease and titillate your brain until you finally submit”.

Recently, a publicity stunt for the new season went viral when cast members recreated their in-show office at New York’s Grand Central Station. New episodes of Severance will be released weekly on Apple TV+ until March 21.

In other news, Donnie Yen has revealed that his John Wick spin-off, in which he will star and possibly direct, is currently in development.
