Today (January 21), Minnie and her label CUBE Entertainment released the idol’s solo debut record ‘Her’, alongside an accompanying music video for its title track of the same name. This makes her the fourth (G)I-DLE member to go solo, following the likes of Soyeon, Yuqi and Miyeon.

In the music video, Minnie plays three different characters, colour-coded in white, pink and red, engaged in a brutal rivalry against each other while in a mansion. It starts with her boarding a white car and driving off, while two other characters of hers watches her leave from a window and a balcony.

“You think you know me? / I’m her, who shot ya? / With the tied-up hair / Well, I’m her / Who shot ya? Here’s my scar, now kiss it,” she sings in the chorus.

The ‘Her’ album features seven brand-new tracks, including its lead single and pre-release track ‘Blind Eyes Red’, released earlier this month. Minnie enlists bandmate Yuqi for B-side song ‘Drive U Crazy’, while NCT’s Ten lends his vocals to ‘Obsession’. Other tracks on the album include ‘Cherry Sky’, ‘Valentine’s Dream’ and ‘It’s Okay’.

Minnie is credited as a composer and lyricist on the song ‘Her’, along with the tracks ‘Cherry Sky’, ‘Valentine’s Dream’, ‘It’s Okay’ and ‘Obsession’. She is also noted as a lyricist on ‘Blind Eyes Red’ and ‘Drive U Crazy’.

Plans for Minnie’s solo debut were announced and confirmed by her label CUBE Entertainment in December last year. It came just days after it was confirmed by the company that all five members had renewed their contracts, after Soyeon first broke the news through an acceptance speech at the 2024 Melon Music Awards.

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE’s latest group release was their seventh mini-album ‘I Sway’, which arrived with its lead single ‘Klaxon’ last June. Prior to that, the quintet released their second studio album ‘[2]’ in January 2024. That record spawned the singles ‘Wife’ and ‘Superlady’ as well as the B-side ‘Fate’, which became a sleeper hit.
