Twitch streamer Asmongold has accused Elon Musk of faking his gaming accomplishments, saying the Tesla CEO either “bought the account, or somebody played it for him”.

Previously, Musk had complained that he’d been temporarily banned from the game Path Of Exile 2 for “performing too many actions too fast,” and later had to deny accusations he was cheating.
His divisive run on the game made headlines recently after Musk revealed that one of its highest-ranking hardcore characters ‘Percy_Verence’ was actually his.
Path Of Exile 2 features hardcore and standard characters – a hardcore player being one who hasn’t died ingame yet, and has access to a separate leaderboard. Once that player is defeated though, they’re forced to join the standard league.
Because of this, some players claimed Musk couldn’t have been behind Percy_Verence’s impressive achievements after a Twitch stream saw the tech billionaire confused by simple gameplay mechanics.

A few days later, an in-game message reported that Percy_Verence had been killed at level 97, ranking seventh on the global hardcore leaderboard at the time of his defeat, although he now doesn’t appear in the top 1000 of the standard ladder.
Twitch streamer Zack Hoyt, also known as Asmongold, is now among Musk’s most vocal doubters.
“There is no way he played that account,” Asmongold said during a recent stream (via Metro). “Like, I’m sorry. I think he bought the account, or somebody played it for him. A hundred-fucking-percent.”
After the clip circulated on X/Twitter, Musk responded with a series of posts on the platform, which the tech billionaire and CEO of SpaceX purchased for a staggering $44billion in 2022.
Elon Musk is SO thin-skinned.
Asmongold questions his gaming so he:
– temporarily removes his checkmark
– temporarily suspends his $$$
– leaks DMs
– goes on a whinging spree like an angsty teen

He said the streamer was “not his own man” and “has to ask his boss for permission before he can do anything” and leaked direct messages between himself and Asmongold.
“I’m on hundreds of streams on YouTube/Twitch playing live with the world’s best players,” Musk claimed. “No other way to say this, but, while Asmon IS good at caustic commentary and making fun of people, he is NOT good at video games.”
In response to this post – which was later updated through X’s Community Notes feature to add Asmongold’s achievements in World Of Warcraft – Asmongold wrote: “Leaking my DM’s is one thing but this is absolutely uncalled for.”
Asmongold also talked about Musk’s criticism during a stream, after the SpaceX CEO had unfollowed him. “Was he probably not happy about the video? He’ll get over it,’ he added.
“Listen, it was so obvious. You cannot get mad at me for bringing this up. Everybody was talking about this. Come on, man.”
Elsewhere, Musk claimed last year he was behind one of the best characters in Diablo 4 as numerous players suggested he must be paying people to level up for him. In 2022, his Elden Ring set-up was widely mocked for being “terrible”.
Musk also shared his ambitions to “make games great again” with the launch of a new AI game studio via his xAI start up. The billionaire creator of SpaceX and Tesla also complained that too many studios were owned by “massive corporations” and claimed that “having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable,” after playing an early version of Avowed.
