Snoop Dogg has come under fire for performing at Donald Trump’s Crypto Ball just days ahead of the President Elect’s inauguration.
The event took place on Friday (January 17) at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington D.C., with a VIP reception hosted by Trump’s crypto czar David Sacks.
Among the performers on the night was Snoop, despite having been somewhat vocal in his opposition to the Republican in the past. His appearance has prompted several fans to criticise him online, with some saying that it was “a bridge too far”.

In the past, Snoop has blasted Trump for being “racist” and has compared him to the devil, although in recent years he has softened his attitude to the President Elect, saying he has “nothing but love and respect” for him.
Following Trump’s election win in 2016, Snoop asked Drake to help him move to Canada. Then, in 2017, the rapper took aim at Trump in his ‘Lavender’ music video, in which the American president was presented as a clown and Snoop pulled a gun on him.
Trump later responded on Twitter, writing: “Can you imagine what the outcry would be if Snoop Dogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!”
Snoop’s 2017 album, ‘Make America Crip Again’ included the Trump-bashing lyrics in its title track: “Don’t pretend like I’m with that bullshit your president been tweetin’.” The controversial alternative album art also showed the rapper standing over Trump’s dead body.
Trump’s second inauguration is set to take place on Monday (January 20), with the event being moved indoors this time around due to the expectation of dangerously cold weather in Washington D.C.
Among the names that had been confirmed for the inauguration event were Carrie Underwood, Village People, Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Trump has also recently named Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight as his “special ambassadors” of Hollywood.
“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!” Trump said.
“These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”
