The Lottery Winners have shared a new single called ‘Dirt And Gold’, starring Frank Turner. Check it out below.

The track marks the latest single to be shared by the band from their upcoming album ‘KOKO’. The long-awaited follow-up to their first UK Number One album, 2023’s ‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’, the record is set to arrive on March 21 via Modern Sky (pre-order here).

Taking on a passionate, high-energy feel, the new single gradually builds into a defiant, empowering anthem and champions a message of resilience.

“They say you build it and they will come/ But if they don’t at least you’ve built something / And we’re so good at demolition / That now we’ve got nothing / We can’t stop it all from crumbling,” sings frontman Thom Rylance as the song develops.

We’re wild animals in a cage / And we’re plotting our escape / We scratch our nails into the walls / As we’re counting down the days / In the hope that we’ll be saved.”

The track features contributions from Frank Turner, in what is now his third successive appearance on a Lottery Winners album.

“It’s become a tradition to have Frank on our records now, which is bananas for me to say, as he’s genuinely one of my favourite artists on the planet,” said Rylance. “When I wrote ‘Dirt and Gold’, I knew it had to be Frank. There’s nobody else who can deliver a chorus like he can. With such ferocity, while remaining melodic and tuneful.”

Turner also spoke about the appearance on the track, adding: “Collaborating with the Lottery Winners has become one of my favourite musical traditions. Their energy, creativity, and sheer enthusiasm are infectious-it’s impossible not to have a good time working with them.”

“When Thom sent me ‘Dirt and Gold’, I immediately knew I had to be part of it. Their ability to craft songs that are both heartfelt and anthemic is second to none, and I was honoured to help bring that song to life,” he added.

“Lottery Winners are one of those bands that remind you why you fell in love with music in the first place. They’ve got that perfect mix of humour, heart, and a genuine passion for what they do. It’s inspiring.”

A music video for the new single is set to premiere at 7pm GMT tonight (January 17) and will see the two singers gearing up for a boxing match at the iconic Salford Lads Club.

Turner isn’t the only big name to be featured on the Manchester band’s upcoming LP. The tracklist also sees contributions from Nickleback‘s Chad Kroeger (‘Ragdoll’), Shed Seven (‘The Ceiling’) and Reverend & The Makers (‘You Again’).

As previously announced by the members, ‘Keep on keeping on‘ is a motto that informed the title of the forthcoming ‘KOKO’.

Speaking to NME recently, Rylance said that this hopeful message was “about the self-reflection and self-forgiveness [he] went through writing these songs”.

“I’m a sensitive baby, and sometimes I’ll have tantrums. I feel things intensely. But it means I get to write songs that resonate with people. That’s all that matters,” he said. When asked if he felt any pressure in following up on a Number One album, he responded: “Of course the pressure is back. Can we ever do this again? Do we want to? Yes, so we’ll throw everything at getting a second Number One album for Leigh.

“Getting that first Number One meant acceptance, that we’d broken into the industry despite all the uphill battles.”

He also reflected on how he managed to get Chad Kroeger involved in ‘KOKO’. “We supported [Nickleback] on tour,” he explained. “It was cool to hate Nickelback for so long, from when they were the first internet meme band. But they still sell out arenas all over the world, and their story inspires me, as they’re from humble beginnings too.”

The Lottery Winners are set to embark on their 2025 ‘Keep On Keeping On’ UK headline tour next month. Find any remaining tickets here.
