The second season of Apple TV+’s dystopian drama Silo is over, but does Rebecca Ferguson’s Juliette manage to return to Silo 18 by the end?

The sci-fi show is based on Hugh Howey’s trio of novels – Wool, Shift and Dust – and is set in a future where civilisation exists in a giant underground silo made up of 144 levels.
Ferguson, an executive producer on the series, leads the cast as engineer Juliette Nichols, who becomes invested in the mysterious past of the silo, with Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common and Tim Robbins co-starring.
Graham Yost, writer of Speed and Mission To Mars and the creator of Justified, is the showrunner on Silo, with the first season having aired on the streaming platform in the summer of 2023.
It returned on November 15 for its second run of 10 episodes, with the final instalment premiering on Friday (January 17).
In a four-star review of the second season, NME described Silo as a “worthy successor” to the ’00s adventure drama Lost and added: “Silo season two doesn’t attempt anything too outlandish, fully aware that its enigma is what keeps us coming back. The mix of paranoia and politics makes for intriguing seasoning over a sci-fi show that plays into our fears of the post-apocalyptic wilderness.
“And with Ferguson again in resolute form, building on her stellar work in the first season, Silo is a tantalising prospect, simply begging you to wrestle with its mysteries. It’s more than worth it.”
Silo season two ending explained: Does Juliette get back to Silo 18?
In the final episode of season two, Ferguson’s Juliette is in Silo 17, where Solo (Steve Zahn) tells her about a pipe that can pump enough poison into a silo to kill all of the inhabitants and how it can be prevented.
Juliette uses a firefighter suit to successfully return to Silo 18, where she cleans the camera and shows a message warning the inhabitants not to leave, with the words: “NOT SAFE DO NOT COME OUT”. The citizens of Silo 18 celebrate Juliette’s return.
In a cliffhanger ending, Juliette and Barnard (Tim Robbins) become trapped in an airlock which becomes engulfed in flames. As the episode ended, their fates are uncertain.
Silo has been recommissioned for a third and fourth season, with it likely to return to screens sometime in 2026.
