Elon Musk has admitted that playing video games is the only way he can “quiet” his mind.

Elon Musk owns social media platform x (formerly known as Twitter) and runs space organisation SpaceX. He’s also set to work with President Elect Donald Trump as part of his new Department Of Government Efficiency advisory board, which will work to cut regulations, spending and headcounts within the federal government. Following that, Musk has become more critical of European politics in recent weeks. But in a new post on X, the billionaire has revealed that gaming is his one “recreational activity”.
In a reshared 2009 interview, Musk said his work at Tesla and SpaceX took up a majority of his time. “Then there’s my kids And then I sleep. That’s the 4 things I do…and often, I don’t get a lot of sleep.”
Posting on X earlier this week, Musk said that was still true even though he “has more things on my plate now”.
“I do play video games as my one recreational activity to quiet my mind. Some days are real tough, so playing video games is my strange solace,” he added.

However, in recent weeks Musk has been accused of paying others to game for him, before taking to social media to brag about their achievements as his own. It happened when he streamed Diablo 4 last year and more recently, his exploits in Path Of Exile 2 have come under suspicion.
It’s led to a public spat with YouTuber Asmongold, who published the lengthy Elon Musk Is Not Getting Away With This video earlier this week. The clip has now been viewed more than 1.8million times.
“Asmon behaves like a maverick ‘independent’, but in reality has to ask his boss for permission before he can do anything. He is not his own man,” claimed Musk in response, before seemingly leaking a private exchange between the two.

Despite Musk saying that a lot of his time is spent being a father, he’s been heavily criticised for disowning his transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson. She also criticised her father after he said she had been “killed by the woke mind virus”.
Last year, Musk also shared his ambitions to “make games great again” with the launch of a new AI game studio via his xAI start up. The billionaire also complained that too many studios were owned by “massive corporations” and claimed that “having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable,” after playing an early version of Avowed.
“Video games are meant for you to be immersed in an exciting and creative alternative reality and have fun with friends. Adding present-day political bullshit kills the vibe,” he added earlier this week.
