An article from Deadline has cited unnamed sources close to the production who allege the footage shot so far is not able to be condensed into a shorter season. The article also claims production insiders have told them Fielding was unavailable for scheduled filming dates, and that the show “ran out of road”.
Fielding’s agent at PBJ Management gave a statement denying claims in the report, saying: “One of the main cast members who has not been well is not recovered enough to complete the filming”. The representative added that it was “hugely disappointing” that filming was not able to continue. In response, Deadline’s sources claim that the “cast member” mentioned was Fielding.
Coming to prominence thanks to comedy show The Mighty Boosh, which aired from 2004-2007, Fielding has presented The Great British Bake Off from since 2017, as well as appearing as a team captain on Never Mind The Buzzcocks since 2021. He has also been a voice actor in film The Lego Movie 2, and Netflix’s Disenchantment.
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, as the title suggests, offers a fictional take on the 18th century highwayman, and co-starred Downton Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville and Shameless star David Threlfall. Season two co-stars were set to include Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter franchise), and comedian Dawn French, which the report claims will now not be seen.
Recently, Fielding told a story about once being stopped by police while wearing Courtney Love’s pyjamas. He also reflected on his “partying” days with the singer in the ’00s ahead of her appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
