The conclusion to psychological thriller, starring Penn Badgley as serial killer Joe Goldberg, was originally expected to drop last year, but is now arriving on the streaming service on April 24.
The fifth see will see Joe back where it all began in New York City after committing a series of murders across California and the UK.
The official longline for the season reads: “In the epic fifth and final season, Joe Goldberg returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after… until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires.”
Alongside the date announcement, Netflix has also released a teaser trailer, which sees Joe return to Mooney’s, the antique bookshop he worked at in the first season.
The shop basement served as a base for the killer’s kidnapping exploits and housed the infamous glass cage.
It’s seems likely that that cage will once again have a part to play in season five, with the final scene of the teaser suggesting that Joe could be the one who ends up inside it this time around.
Alongside Badgley, the cast for the final season also sees Charlotte Ritchie return as Joe’s wealthy partner Kate, while Tati Gabrielle reprises her role as Marienne Bellamy, the object of the killer’s obsession in season three and four.

Newcomers to the cast include Madeline Brewer as playwright and bookseller Bronte, Anna Camp in the dual roles of Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, Griffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, and Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau as Marquez.
You season four has a major hit for Netflix, remaining in the top five most-watched global TV shows for five weeks following its release.
