Nintendo may have officially unveiled the Switch 2 yesterday (January 16) but it’s apparently not done with the original console just yet.

Yesterday (January 16) Nintendo gave fans a brief first look at the Switch 2 with a short trailer that focused primarily on the new console and its hardware. More information is set to be revealed on April 2 via a special Direct before a series of global hands-on experiences take place.

Apart from a brief tease of a new Mario Kart game, Nintendo didn’t reveal anything about possible launch titles for the Switch 2 but it did confirm the new console would play existing physical and digital Switch games.

According to a new report, Nintendo is set to announce more Switch titles next month. Leaker Nate The Hate was the first to predict the Switch 2 would be unveiled yesterday and now he’s claimed a dedicated Direct will take place in February, focusing on games for the Switch. The rumour has been collaborated by games journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe (via VGC).

As it stands, only three announced Nintendo-published games are still waiting to be released. Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition is due in March while both Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A are due out at some point in 2025. However there have been rumours that Nintendo has been working on remakes of The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Twilight Princess since 2020, so maybe they could finally be unveiled next month.

There’s also Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was supposed to be released in early 2023 before developers Team Cherry delayed it. Last year, they said they were still “hard at work” on the sequel.

In other news, Elon Musk has said playing video games is the only “recreational activity” he takes part in after being accused of faking several high-level Path Of Exile 2 characters. “Some days are real tough, so playing video games is my strange solace,” he wrote on X.
