Recently, social media has seen premature tour announcements leak online, suggesting that the iconic industrial band could be hitting the road this year. Now, Trent Reznor and co. have indeed confirmed that they will be performing this year.

The band took to social media today (January 14) to address the leaks, writing: “Since some dates and information about our world tour have leaked we are confirming that yes we will be touring and will provide more details soon.”

However, the band have stopped short of sharing the list of tour dates due to the Los Angeles wildfires: “We are all watching the devastation that is unfolding in California and have paused our announcement while people try to deal with all that is happening”.

In a follow-up post on their Instagram Stories, the band have also directed fans to wildlife resources.

The tour will mark the band’s first run of shows since 2022. It will also be their first time hitting the road since confirming last month that they’re working on new material. Reznor said they were “taking the inspiration we’ve garnered and funnelling it into a Nine Inch Nails project, which we’re working on now. We’re ready to be back in the driver’s seat.”

This is not the first time Nine Inch Nails have opened up about new material being in the works. They began teasing a potential new Nine Inch Nails project in April, when Atticus Ross said: “I do feel excited about starting on the next record. I think we’re in a place now where we kind of have an idea.”

An upcoming record would mark their first since the surprise 2020 ambient double album ‘Ghosts V-VI‘ which followed 2018’s ‘Bad Witch‘.

Most recently, the band’s Reznor and Ross have won a Golden Globe for their scoring work on the Luca Guadagnino film Challengers. It marked their third win at the ceremonies, following on from them winning in the same category for the first time in 2010 for The Social Network, and again in 2020 for the animated film Soul.
