Path Of Exile 2 is an action role-playing game that, according to creators, is “all about making powerful characters and getting epic loot.” An early access version of the game launched in December and within a couple of weeks, Elon Musk was making headlines with his antics in the game.

After complaining that he’d been temporarily banned from the game for “performing too many actions too fast,” Musk had to deny accusations he was cheating.

Path Of Exile 2 features hardcore and standard characters. A hardcore player is someone who hasn’t died ingame yet, and has access to a separate leaderboard. Once that player is defeated though, they’re forced to join the standard league. And in January, Musk revealed [via an alt account] that one of the highest ranking hardcore characters Percy_Verence was actually his.

What an ego-trip… Elon Musk has been livestreaming himself playing overpowered Path Of Exile 2 character, proudly and seriously pretending that he got there _himself_, and actual POE veterans are laughing their asses off watching and dissecting that charade. However, some players claimed Musk couldn’t have been behind Percy_Verence’s impressive achievements after a Twitch stream saw the tech billionaire confused by simple gameplay mechanics. A few days later, an in-game message reported that the level 97 Percy_Verence had been killed (via PC Gamer).  He was ranked seventh on the global hardcore leaderboard at the time of his defeat, but now doesn’t appear in the top 1000 of the standard ladder.

Players believe new character Fatalismftw is Musk’s latest creation.

Last year, Elon Musk claimed he was behind one of the best characters in Diablo 4 as numerous players suggested he must be paying people to level up for him. In 2022, his Elden Ring set-up was widely mocked for being “terrible”.

Musk also shared his ambitions to “make games great again” with the launch of a new AI game studio via his xAI start up. The billionaire creator of SpaceX and Tesla also complained that too many studios were owned by “massive corporations” and claimed that “having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable,” after playing an early version of Avowed.

In other news, video game legend Hideo Kojima has revealed that he doesn’t know how much longer he’ll be making video games.
