Last year, Xbox announced four console-exclusive titles including Hi-Fi Rush and Sea Of Thieves would be made available for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch as part of its “vision for the future”.
“I’m going to learn about our partnership with other platforms. I’m going to learn about what happens with our players,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer said at the time. “I don’t think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform.”
Later that year, Xbox confirmed Indiana Jones And The Great Circle would be launching on PlayStation at some point in 2025, after the game released for Xbox and PC in December.
A new report suggests more Xbox titles are coming to other consoles. Last week, podcaster NateTheHate claimed Microsoft Flight Simulator and Halo: The Master Chief Collection would be available to play on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 at some point this year. A new article from Windows Central backs up those claims and suggests more games will also become multi-platform.
The report says Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and Age Of Mythology will be coming to PlayStation this year. Gears Of War 1: Ultimate Edition could also “potentially” make the leap.
It comes after rumours that Final Fantasy 7: Remake will be available for Xbox users this year, with Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth set to follow in 2026. Both games are currently only available for PlayStation 5 and PC gamers.
Speaking about the first wave of Xbox-exclusives coming to other consoles, Spencer said he was “pleased” with the results but, as of November 2024, claimed it was “too soon” to make a decision about Halo. “I do not see red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not’,” he added.
Xbox is currently working on a number of new Halo titles, as the franchise enters a “new dawn”. Meanwhile a new Gears Of War prequel is also in development. E-Day is set 14 years before the first game and “tells the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera.”
In other news, Classic FM has confirmed a new show celebrating the legacy of video game soundtracks, presented by Minecraft YouTuber DanTDM.
