Hero-shooter Marvel Rivals launched in December with 10million players logging on in its first week. The game has maintained that huge playerbase over the past month and is still one of the most popular games on Steam. Earlier this week, developers revealed that Marvel Rivals’ first season would go live on Friday with The Fantastic Four’s Invisible Woman and Mr Fantastic joining the roster of playable heroes.
A number of new maps will also be introduced to the game while another batch of additions is due in six weeks time, as part of season one’s second chapter.

Marvel Rivals also promised a number of buffs and nerfs would be made to several heroes to help balance the game, and now the patch notes for season one have revealed just how extensive those tweaks will be.
In total, 24 of Marvel Rivals’ 33 playable characters will be changed tomorrow.
Since the launch of the game “players have continuously honed and experimented with new compositions and strategies, further enriching the battlefield,” said developers. “However, we are set to make balance adjustments to certain heroes, enabling a broader roster to partake in more intricate gameplay, ensuring a richer, more engaging, and diverse gaming experience for all.”

Captain America is getting the most substantial buff, with an increase in health and a reduction in Shield Restoration delay, Liberty Lush cooldown time as well as less energy required for his Freedom Charge ultimate move.
Thor, Venom, Black Widow, Magik, Moon Knight, Namor, The Punisher, Scarlet Witch, Storm, Cloak & Dagger and Rocket Racoon are all set to be buffed as well.
Characters like Winter Soldier, Wolverine and Jeff The Land Shark will have some of their abilities improved, while others will be nerfed.
Elsewhere, the most popular character in Marvel Rivals, Doctor Strange, is set to be reworked. His Maelstrom of Madness and Gamma Maelstrom attacks will not be as powerful or wide-ranging from tomorrow. Other heroes like Hulk, Black Panther, Hawkeye, Hela, Psylocke, Luna Snow and Mantis will also be nerfed. Check out the full patch notes here.
In other news, it seems that Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 is struggling to keep its playerbase after a record-breaking launch back in October.
