The first season of Amazon Prime Video’s adaptation of hit video game franchise Fallout premiered in April last year. It quickly became one of the most-watched programmes on the streamer and was nominated for several awards at the 2024 Emmys.

A second season of Fallout was greenlit a few weeks after the first season aired, and filming began in November 2024 before taking a break for Christmas. While the first season was filmed in New York, the second season is being filmed in California’s Santa Clarita.

Production was due to restart yesterday (January 8) but it’s been delayed due to the wildfires that are currently raging through Los Angeles.

Initially Deadline reported that work on Fallout was set to resume tomorrow (January 10) but with high winds still spreading the wildfires, there’s no guarantee that will be the case. Fallout season 2 doesn’t currently have a release date, though fans aren’t expecting it to come before 2026.

Last summer, showrunner Graham Wagner confirmed that many of Fallout’s heroes would be heading to New Vegas in season two and teased the arrival of fan-favourite character Mr House, who was first introduced in Fallout: New Vegas. The new season will also see Macaulay Culkin join the cast as a “crazy, genius-type character”.

Firefighters are currently battling five different wildfires in California, with over 137,000 people forced to evacuate their homes (via the BBC). Five people have died due to the blazes and “entire neighbourhoods have been wiped out”. Insurance companies have estimated the fires will cause more than $8bn (£6.5bn) in damage.

Last night, actor James Woods broke down in tears during an interview after his home was destroyed while Paris Hilton and Billy Crystal are among the stars that have also lost homes to the blaze.

The Kills frontwoman Alison Mosshart has hit out at Donald Trump amid the ongoing wildfires in California, saying it will be “harder” to rebuild communities once he is in power. “He loathes California for not voting for him.”
