Today (January 6), the Golden Globes kicks off the film and TV industry’s awards season, serving as the first major ceremony. Awards season will culminate with the Oscars on March 3.
The 2025 Golden Globes is being hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who follows on from last year’s much-maligned turn from Jo Koy. The ceremony will emanate from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California.
Among the numerous critically acclaimed films up for several awards this year are A Complete Unknown, Anora, Dune: Part Two, The Substance, Wicked, Emilia Pérez and Challengers.
On the TV side of things, Shōgun, The Bear, Slow Horses, Squid Game, Only Murders In The Building and more are up for major awards.
The 2024 Golden Globes saw five wins for Oppenheimer, with the movie going on to take home seven awards at the Oscars, including Best Picture. Other notable Globes winners were Anatomy Of A Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers and Poor Things, which took home two awards each. On the TV side of things, Succession‘s final season was the big winner, taking home four awards, while The Bear and Beef won three each.
