The Wanted’s Max George has revealed that he has headed back to hospital after having heart surgery last month.
Last month, the singer told fans via social media that he had been hospitalised after some tests revealed “issues” with his heart. He said that he initially was “feeling really unwell” and was having some tests done. It was later confirmed that he would need surgery for a heart condition.
The 36-year-old then shared a further update, explaining that he had “a 2:1 block” in his heart, meaning that his heart beats slower or more irregularly than it should. He underwent heart surgery to have a pacemaker fitted shortly afterwards, and was discharged from hospital in time for Christmas Day.
Now, George has shared another update online, confirming to fans that he has gone into hospital again.
Taking to Instagram, he explained that he had been feeling an odd sensation since having the pacemaker fitted and asked fans if they knew anyone who had the same experience. “I’m in the hospital tomorrow for another check-up because I’ve been getting this flicking feeling in the left side of my chest. I’m actually getting it right now,” he said. “I was wondering if you guys knew what it might be or if you’ve experienced it yourself because the doctors aren’t too sure.”
He continued: “Maybe it’s touching a nerve and it’ll go away in time or they might have to move a wire slightly but I’m all ears because all I’m doing is research. I know nothing about pacemakers. Any information I could get would be most appreciated.”
When he was discharged from hospital late last month, George explained that he wasn’t completely in the clear as the doctors found there was more investigation needed into a potential issue with his lungs.
He also shared an image after the surgical procedure, showing that the pacemaker had been placed under a tattoo that reads ‘04.08.1988’ – the birthdate of his former bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away in March 2022 at the age of 33 after battling brain cancer.
