Sugababes’ Keisha Buchanan says she survived a car crash after “blacking out at the wheel”

Sugababes singer Keisha Buchanan has opened up for the first time about surviving a car crash, which happened after she “blacked out at the wheel”.

Buchanan took to Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the incident, which happened just over a year ago.

“This time last year I blacked out at the wheel. Thank you Jesus for my life! Thankful for another year.. will speak more on the cause behind the black out another time. Just happy to be here,” she wrote.

In a separate post, the singer also apologised for not sharing the news directly with her family and friends.

She added: “Thank you for your lovely messages.. to my family & friends, sorry that you’re finding out over socials & a year later. I just didn’t want anyone to worry over Christmas.”

Buchanan has been part of the Sugababes line-up since their formation in 1998. Sugababes’ original line-up reunited in 2019 with the singer, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy.

They have since sold out The O2 in London and performed at major festivals across Europe. This summer, their slot on Glastonbury’s West Holts stage resulted in the area being closed off to fans due to demand.

The original trio played together at Worthy Farm for the first time in 2022.

The trio recently announced their biggest-ever UK and European arena tour for 2025 with stop-offs at The O2 in London, the Co-op Live in Manchester, BP Pulse Live in Birmingham, Cardiff’s Utilita Arena, Newcastle’s Utilita Arena and the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

They will kick off their tour at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on April 8 before wrapping up in Glasgow on April 17.

From there, the Sugababes will head to Europe for shows in Antwerp, Amsterdam, Cologne, Berlin, Paris, Zurich and Milan. You can purchase any remaining tickets here for their UK/Ireland shows and here for their European dates.
