In a new unlisted video titled ‘Goodbye, Hello’ that was posted on Christmas Day, BLACKPINK’s Jennie greeted fans with a recap of her 2024 and a mini interview-style clip.
In the clip, the singer teased details about her upcoming debut album. “My album is going to sound very different. My next single is going to sound very different from ‘Mantra’, I feel like every step is going to be different,” she said.
She also spoke about the making of the upcoming record, sharing that it took 11 months for her to believe it was ready. “I’ve never done this before, and people assume that this has been in my life. Which is kind of true, but I’ve never really done it on my own. I’ve always had the girls by my side,” she added, nodding to her BLACKPINK bandmates.
She went on to discuss more specific details about the record, leaving its song titles and names of featuring artists censored. Jennie described her favourite song on the album as one she put her “soul” into, and teased collaborations with at least two of her “dream artists”.
“My hope with my album is that the world gets to see Jennie and her music as it is. Like, I wouldn’t even be mad if you hate it,” she added with a laugh. “There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. It’s like a buffet for you guys.”
Finally, Jennie shared her hopes and expectations for the coming year, calling it a “little seed” in her life. “A new era for me. It’s finally, finally time for me to show what I’ve been working on and what I’ve been holding onto, and just really let it out,” she said.
In other K-pop news, girl group IVE have dropped a teaser clip announcing their return with a new single in January 2025.
