BLACKPINK singer Rosé appeared as a guest on the series’ latest episode, shared on YouTube on December 3. She performed two songs during her appearance on the show: ‘APT.’, her hit single with Bruno Mars, and ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! in celebration of the holidays.

Rosé’s stripped-down take on ‘Last Christmas’ arrives on the song’s 40th anniversary, and was performed live accompanied by back-up singers, a drummer and a keyboardist. “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart / But the very next day, you gave it away / This year, to save me from tears / I’ll give it to someone special,” she sings.

Her guest appearance on the Radio 1 Live Lounge also comes days before the Australian-Korean singer is due to drop her debut solo album ‘rosie’. She has so far released two single from the record: ‘APT.’ and ‘number one girl’, the former having been recently named by NME as one of the best songs of 2024.

‘number one girl’ credits Bruno Mars as a co-producer, and is a track she described as “disgustingly vulnerable”, inspired by hate comments she read. “I realised how vulnerable and addicted I was to this [online] world and that craving for feeling like I wanted to be loved and understood,” Rosé said.

Rosé also previously teased another upcoming track titled ‘toxic till the end’ in an Apple Music podcast preview. She revealed that it was written about an ex she talked about “a bit too much”, and recording the song helped her move on from the situation.
