Yesterday (December 3), C9 Entertainment released a statement on cignature’s official fancafé website, announcing the official disbandment of the girl group. The company said that “it was mutually agreed that disbandment of the group was necessary”, following discussions with members.
“As a result, we have terminated the exclusive contracts of all seven cignature members regardless of the remaining duration of their contracts,” it wrote, as translated by Soompi. “The group’s activities also officially concluded as of November 30, 2024.”
C9 Entertainment concluded the statement by expressing its gratitude to the cignature members “who gave their all despite numerous challenges over the years” and apologising to fans. “We ask for your warm support for the members as they embark on new beginnings in various fields,” it concluded.
cignature’s final release as a group was June 2024’s fifth mini-album ‘Sweet but Saltie’, which featured the lead single ‘Poongdung’. It marked their first music in nearly a year, after they released a mini-album titled ‘Us in the Summer’ the year prior.
‘Sweet but Saltie’ was also the band’s first project without member Belle, who participated in idol survival reality series Universe Ticket. During the time on the show, and since her re-debut in winning group UNIS, she’s gone by her real name Jin Hyeon-ju.
cignature first debuted under C9 Entertainment subsidiary label J9 Entertainment in February 2020 with the single ‘Nun Nu Nan Na’. In April 2021, members Ye-ah and Sunn parted ways with the group. Later in June that year, members Chloe and Dohee were added to the group.
