In an interview with The Guardian, the award-winning deadpan comic spoke about the surreal experience of being interrupted by Paul Weller and Robbie Williams – at the same gig.
Answering a question about the strangest encounters he has had with fans, he replied: “Hardly a fan but once I was heckled by Paul Weller. It wasn’t aggressive, but then of course everyone just looked at him, not me.”
“Then later, in the same show, someone else shouted out and it was Robbie Williams. Weird gig!”

In other Weller news, he has curated a bill of artists that are set to perform at a ‘Gig For Gaza’ charity show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on December 13, with Primal Scream and Kneecap among the names joining him at the show.
In May, Paul Weller expressed his support for Palestine by saying that he was “against genocides and ethnic cleansing”. His recent live shows have seen him perform onstage with a Palestinian flag draped over his guitar amp.
He also made his major acting debut in Steve McQueen’s World War II drama Blitz, which is streaming now on Apple TV+. Saoirse Ronan, Stephen Graham, Kathy Burke and Benjamin Clementine star alongside him.
McQueen spoke about his choice to cast the Modfather in the role. “With Paul, I just thought there was an authenticity to his face,” the director said.
“He looks like a person from that time. He also writes and performs his own songs, so I thought he must be able to act. He was doubtful, but trusted me and we got him an acting coach and he got confident every day. He’s such a beautiful man.”
Williams, meanwhile, is preparing for the release of his semi-autobiographical film Better Man, in which he is depicted as a CGI monkey.
The movie charts his life and career, from his early days in childhood to his first taste of success with Take That, and is directed and co-written by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman).
Robbie has also announced details of a huge tour across the UK, Ireland and Europe in 2025. Visit here to buy tickets.
