On November 26, the streaming giant dropped a clip titled ‘The Backrooms (Found Footage)’ for the upcoming Squid Game season two. Using a first-person filmed found footage format, it takes viewers through the empty Squid Game set.

The clip begins in the players’ dormitory, which are filled with bunk beds and ‘O’ and ‘X’ symbols on the floor, which are part of a new game mechanic this season. The camera then journeys out into the colourful playground-like maze of corridors, into an elevator and towards the workers’ rooms.

It later arrives in a plain white corridor, and a pair of curtains open to reveal a carousel-like structure in the middle of a room. The camera then pans to a high-ranking worker, before cutting to static noise.

Squid Game is a satirical South Korean drama series first released in 2021.The titular game is a competition in which its contestants– many of whom struggle with poverty – play rounds of modified children’s games to win a life-changing cash prize. However, those who lose the games are killed.

Netflix has released several teasers for the second season, which is set to premiere exclusively on the platform on December 26. Back in August, it also confirmed that Squid Game had been renewed for a third and final season, which is slated to premiere in 2025.
