Rahim Redcar – formerly of Christine And The Queens – has paid tribute to SOPHIE with a moving cover of her song ‘It’s OK To Cry’. Check it out below.

The track was originally shared by the visionary music producer, songwriter, and DJ as part of her 2018 debut album ‘Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides’ – the only album to be released in her lifetime, ahead of her untimely death in 2021.
With his cover, Rahim Redcar, channels the same emotive and loving atmosphere as captured in the original. He does however put his own spin on it, adding more elaborate instrumentals, as well as a pulsing drum track.
“I don’t mean to reproach you by saying this / I know that scares you / All of the big occasions you might have missed / No, I accept you,” he sings in the opening verse of the cover. “And I don’t even need to know your reasons / It’s OK, it’s OK, it’s OK / I think you sometimes forget / I would know you best.”
The rendition also comes after Redcar expressed his appreciation for SOPHIE in the past too, naming her as a “peerless and visionary producer” in 2021. Check out the cover below.
For Redcar, her take of the SOPHIE track comes as he is currently on tour, celebrating the release of his new album ‘Hopecore’.
Announced in September and arriving later that month, the release was previewed by the lead single ‘Deep Holes’ and described by the artist as being created from “tears, blood, and mostly an unwavering faith in the raw, pure expression of the soul.”
“Music took here its full prophetic vastness, got wilder, and called for an absolute quest where no one else came in to tamper with intentions,” he continued. “A call of the flesh, a prayer for justice and freedom.”
He later kicked off a club tour across the UK and Europe. The dates began on November 1 with an opening night at Fabric in London, before continuing the following night with a slot at the Skatecafe in Amsterdam. Shows in Brussels and Barcelona followed, before Redcar headed back to the UK for an appearance at Homobloc Festival in Manchester on November 9.

As for SOPHIE news, in September it was confirmed that her posthumous self-titled final album had dropped early. It was announced in the summer that – three years on from the late hyper-pop artist and producer’s death – her family and close collaborators would be releasing an album she was working on at the time of her death.
SOPHIE’s brother and longtime producer, Benny Long, helped in the creation of the record, which features collaborations with close friends including Kim Petras, Doss, Hannah Diamond, Bibi Bourelly and more.
