This Wednesday (November 20), Palmer was one of the special guests on Fallon and, while on the couch, she shared an anecdote about how she met the ‘Pink Friday 2’ rapper at this year’s Met Gala.

The entertainment polymath mimicked Minaj’s New York accent when recalling what she said to her. “Ah, ah, hold on. You, I need to talk to you,” Palmer began to impersonate Nicki – admitting she thought the rapper was going to tell her off instead of giving her some advice.

Palmer continued (as Minaj): “Look, I don’t read the press. I don’t know everything that’s going on, but I just want to tell you: nobody knows what it’s like when we turn off the lights and we got a be with ourselves. So, you do whatever you need to do to be good with you.”

Last night (November 21), Minaj sarcastically responded to Palmer’s impersonation, questioning: “Why would she even tell that story? Doesn’t she know that could mess up the whole ‘bad guy’ thing?

“Let’s see if she still laughin’ when she get hit [with] that cease & desist chi. [Signed] the bad guy Chun-Ki…ki…”

“The whole ‘bad guy’ thing” is a reference to Minaj’s 2018 single ‘Chun Li’ where she rapped: “They need rappers like me, so they can get on their fucking keyboards and make me the bad guy, Chun Li” –  showing her self-awareness of being portrayed as a negative figure in the music industry.

Palmer went on Fallon to promote her recently released memoir Master Of Me: The Secret To Controlling Your Narrative. The book is her second and comes 10 years after her first, mostly exploring her experiences after motherhood and how it changed her perspective on life.

In other news, a new buddy comedy starring Palmer and SZA called One Of Them Days is on the way. The film is co-produced by Issa Rae and will hit American cinemas on January 24.

Meanwhile, Minaj is gearing up to release her sixth studio album ‘Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus’, which is set to arrive on December 13.

She also has shared a special expanded edition of her third studio album ‘The Pinkprint’ to celebrate its 10th anniversary, adding four new songs to the tracklist.
