Jay Leno suffered a series of injuries after falling down a hill in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The former Tonight Show host has been seen wearing an eye patch following the incident which left him with a black eye, bruised face and bandaged wrist.
According to Leno, he fell after walking down a hill to a restaurant near his hotel.
“To get to it, I didn’t have a car, so you had to walk about a mile and a half around. I said, ‘Well, the hill doesn’t look that steep. It’s about 60 or 70 feet. Let me see if I can go down the hill,” he told TMZ before adding: “I fell down. Boom, boom, boom. I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, knocked me in the eye.”
The 74-year-old comedian went on to say that he still managed to perform his show later that day at the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California, and sought medical attention once he got back to Los Angeles.

“It’s not that big of a deal. It’s alright, it’s alright. The great thing about this age [is] you don’t learn by your mistakes, you just keep doing the same stupid thing,” Leno joked, referring to his previous injuries in 2022.
At the time he suffered third-degree burns in a garage fire. Leno explained at the time the accident happened while working on the undercarriage of a 1907 White Motor Co steam car with his long-time friend Dave Killackey.
“With a steam car, you have gasoline, but you also have a vaporiser which is heated by a pilot light to turn water into steam,” Leno said at the time. The pair decided to blow some air into the fuel line in an attempt to unclog it, which is when Leno “got a face full of gasoline” as a result.
“I knew how close I was to the pilot light and I thought, ‘Uh oh,’” Leno recalled. “It felt exactly like my face was on fire. Maybe like the most intense sunburn you’ve ever had, that’d be fair to say.”
Just months after the incident, Leno also broke his collarbone, two ribs and cracked his kneecaps in a motorcycle accident.
Elsewhere, he recently reacted to Donald Trump‘s win in the US Presidential elections.
Lenon, who has in the past been vocal about his dislike for the incoming President – took a diplomatic approach, saying: “The nice thing about this election is, it was fair, it was honest. OK, I was not a fan, but that’s OK. It’s the President of the United States. There was no cheating. Everybody says it was honest. It’s a great day for democracy.”
