Life offers no clear map, no rhyme or reason—and therein lies its allure: an adventure brimming with twists, turns, and detours, where spontaneity reigns supreme. This essence pulses through Station to Station, the latest single from Zement—Philipp Hager and Christian Büdel’s experimental brainchild. Zement brews a heady mix of Neo-Krautrock, Neo-Psychedelia, Noise-Rock, and electronic beats with a wild free jazz heart. Guitars growl, synths shimmer, and drums drive an unstoppable rhythm. Drawing from the robotic reverie of Kraftwerk and the hypnotic hum of Neu! and CAN, they craft music that teeters between bygone eras and future dreams. Fuzzy guitars, cosmic sax, surreal vocals, and pounding drums create a curious, compelling concoction.
Their upcoming album Passagen, set for release through Berlin’s Crazysane Records on February 14, 2025, tells the tale of a restless soul’s pilgrimage to rediscover and reshape both self and society. Station to Station boldly captures that yearning, navigating new places and uncharted hopes. With lyrics steeped in irony and sly commentaries on modern masculinity, Zement explores the off-kilter, the crooked, the sense that something is just slightly out of place.
