To accompany The Cover, Mary In The Junkyard have compiled an exclusive playlist, titled ‘Sounds From The Junkyard’. The three-piece band have chosen tracks by Dean Blunt, Pentangle, Lou Reed, Mount Eerie, Aphex Twin and more. Listen to the full playlist on Spotify below and on Apple Music.

Speaking to NME in The Cover, Mary In The Junkyard dove into their imaginative world that expands beyond their music into their imagery and live shows. “I find a lot of comfort from the idea of monsters,” vocalist and guitarist Clari Freeman-Taylor explains of some of the inspiration behind their visuals. “I love it because it speaks to a part of me that I don’t often feel that I see in art. There’s a sweetness that you can find in stuff that’s a bit creepy, a unique perspective from things that are deemed as ‘horrible’ or ‘ugly’.”

Elsewhere, the trio discussed being in a “transition period” and the impact they hope securing their own studio space will have on their creations. “We’ve been soundproofing walls and we’re even going to have three coat hangers laid out in a row, Goldilocks and the Three Bears-style,” says drummer David Addison. “Magical things will start to come out of a space we can call our own.”
