Yesterday, the emo legends announced a US tour in celebration of their 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’, kicking off on July 11 2025 at the T-Mobile Park in Seattle. From there, Gerard Way and co will make stops in cities such as San Fransisco, Los Angeles, Arlington, East Rutherford, Philadelphia, Toronto and more. The tour will wrap up at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on September 13.

Each show will feature a different hand-selected artist as opening support – Violent Femmes, 100 Gecs, Wallows, GarbageDeath Cab for Cutie and Thursday, Alice Cooper, Pixies, Devo, IDLES and Evanescence.

According to fans, some of the support acts make more sense than others, meaning certain bands ended up coming as a surprise.

Alice Cooper was a notably divisive choice. Some fans were critical based on comments the shock rocker made last year where he said that being transgender was mostly “a fad” which seemed at odds with the band’s inclusive values, as well as the large proportion of LGBTQ+ people in their fanbase.

“i know everyone’s excited about mcr but it is unbelievably disappointing to see them putting alice cooper on one of the show considering his transphobic beliefs,” one fan wrote on X/Twitter.

Others weren’t so opposed to it. “Gosh dang MCR with Alice Cooper. The people of Philadelphia are some lucky kiddos.,” another fan said.

These are legitimately some of the craziest openers I’ve ever seen listed on a single tour. Alice Cooper?? Garbage?? Devo?? Violent Femmes?? Anyway The Black Parade is the best My Chemical Romance album so this is really cool. https://t.co/9CIKGI4ohi

Last month, the band reunited at When We Were Young festival and performed the album in its entirety.

The band’s most recent material was 2022’s ‘The Foundations of Decay’ – a surprise single that marked their first new release in eight years, with their last full-length album being 2010’s ‘Danger Days’.
