What is the plot of The Trunk?
Based on the 2015 novel Trunk by Kim Ryeo-ryeong, the upcoming mystery K-drama follows Jung-won, a man who enters a one-year contract marriage with a woman named In-ji, who works as a temporary spouse for the wealthy. They enter their contract marriage through NM Company, which Jung-won’s ex-wife Seo-yeon introduces to him.
While Jung-won initially misses Seo-yeon dearly, he soon begins to grow closer to In-ji. One day, a mysterious trunk is recovered from a lake, revealing secrets about NM Company. As the police investigate the matter, Jung-won begins to find out there is more to the company than meets the eye.
Who will star in The Trunk?
Gong Yoo (Squid Game, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) stars in The Trunk as Jung-won, an anxious and lonely man. Starring opposite him is Seo Hyun-jin (Why Her, Beauty Inside), who plays the disillusioned In-ji.
Joining them is Big Bet’s Jung Yun-ha as Seo-yeon, Jung-won’s mysterious and powerful ex-wife who seems to be linked with NM Company. Kim Dong-won (Love Song for Illusion) and Cold Blooded Intern’s Uhm Ji-won also star in the series.
Is there a trailer for The Trunk?
On November 12, Netflix released a cryptic trailer for The Trunk. The clip opens moments before Jung-won and In-ji’s wedding, during which he texts Seo-yeon, telling her that he will not go through with the marriage if she stops him. However, she coldly reads the text message without responding, and the pair are wed. Later, Jung-won questions the purpose of a fake marriage, and In-ji suggests that some people are simply desperate to hide their loneliness.
Initially cold and awkward with one another, the couple begin to bond. Jung-won starts to wonder if their relationship could become real, while Seo-yeon returns to stake her claim on him. At the same time, police uncover a strange trunk, leading them to interrogate Jung-won, In-ji and those involved with NM Company. “Who knows? We might be destined to be together,” he says.

The Trunk will premiere exclusively on Netflix on November 29.
