OPEN SuperApp is on a mission to amplify AAPI voices in the music industry. Created by Jaeson Ma (founder of 88Rising), OPEN SuperApp is about providing artists the tools they need to succeed on their own terms—keeping 100% of their profits and full control of their consumers’ data. It’s about building and sustaining their own businesses and connecting artists directly with their communities.
OPEN Verse, their indie artist competition, is a game-changing opportunity for AAPI musicians. Open Verse competition details
Inviting all AAPI singers, rappers, and artists to take over the OPEN stage, the trailblazing contest will award the winner with a $10,000 cash prize and a distribution deal. The contest is designed to foster a vibrant community for collaboration and innovation among OPEN users and fans whose engagement and clicks will earn participating artists votes along the way.
The competition also features a mentoring panel of three AAPI industry luminaries — renowned singer-songwriter Madison Love (Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry), Japanese rapper Verbal (Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Kylie Minogue) and singer-songwriter Brian Lee (DJ Snake, Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, Post Malone, Lady Gaga, Icona Pop).
The contest was conceived by OPEN’s Alison Boya Sun who led the AAPI crew, Eastern Standard Times, in Red Bull’s Culture Clash NYC last June. Sun said, “We wanted to provide incentive for creators to experience the tools and benefits that OPEN has built-in – they can engage fans, create and sell merchandise, and potentially win a distribution deal.”
“We want to help artists own their audience free of algorithms and advertiser blocking, giving them everything they need to succeed including ways to build their brands with merch and other products,” shares Jaeson Ma, co-founder and CEO of OPEN. “This competition is a great way to find talented people who just need a little extra help breaking through.”
Applications for the first Open Verse edition began on November 8, and after two rounds, the finalists will perform on December 14 at an in-person competition in Los Angeles which will also be livestreamed on Twitch and YouTube.
The deadline to apply is November 15, so there’s no time to waste!
